Somewhat: It's very hard to keep your INR right between 2.5 and 3.5 and most large studies of people on coumadin (warfarin) are only therapeutic 80% of the time. Keep trying and the do the best you can. When you're high, your risk of PE is even lower but your risk bleeding increases. When you drop into the 1.8 to 2.5 range, you have some protection but it's not optimal. Try to stay >2 if possible.

Not optimal: Iits not optimal to have your INR running up/down that much. Usually when I see this its b/c of varying eating patterns, particularly intake of foods that contain vitamin K (ie leafy vegetables) and alcohol, You can oft gain greater constancy by seeking a little more consistency of your eating patterns on a weekly basis in this regard. Otherwise, consider newer agents such as Eliquis or Xarelto.
