Likely a scratch: The walls of the ear canal are thin, and bleed easily with trauma. You likely scratched the wall on the side. We encourage parents to avoid putting Q tips in the ear for this and other reasons.The wax is made in the outer half of the canal and will fall out over time.Q-tips can push it back and plug the whole ear. Your doc can verify the scratch or be sure you didn't hurt the ear drum.
