Can happen...: This can happen after the vein is being punctured by the needle. Some soreness may remain for a couple of hours. If you develop a bruise(which can also happen) and persistent soreness apply ice in the area. If you start bleeding and it doesn't stop the you would need immediate evaluation. Try to rest the arm for today while the inflammation goes down.
