A member asked:

Why could plaquanil cause my irregular beats to be worse ? it sure helps my pain and weakness from my sjogrens . heart doc doesn't know why .

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coincidence: Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) doesn't cause arrhythmia. However, palpitations are as prevalent as rain. It's most likely that you would be having them whether you took plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) or not. "Correlation does not prove causation". Meanwhile, avoid nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol. Get plenty of rest and try to minimize stress and you will, hopefully, feel better!
