If mild not uncommon: It is not uncommon to experience reddness and pain,at the site of an injection, but it is also possible to have an exagerated reaction or even cellulitis (bacterial infection of the skin) . Generally the symptoms are mild and short lived and only last a few days. If your issues seem more than "routine" have your MD take a look. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/side-effects.htm#flu

Redness after shot: Some redness following an injection can be normal, but can be a sign of allergic reaction or local skin infection. If symptoms don't improve readily with oral antihistamines, if they progress, or if fever develops, antibiotics might be necessary.
