Dentist: You need to see a dentist or oral surgeon right away. If an infection has spread into your jaw, it can become very serious very quickly. The risks are needing surgery to remove a portion of the diseased bone or spread into your blood, to your brain, or down into your throat and lungs. If you can't find a doctor, go to a hospital emergency department. This can be an emergency.
