Virus: Most cases of pharyngitis (sore throat)in patients your age are caused by viruses. Streptococcus the bacteria that causes strep throat is very sensitive to cephalexin and penicillin, and should have been effectively treated if you took all of the antibiotics. Since you didn't improve you are most likely suffering from something like adenovirus or mononucleosis.
