A member asked:

What could've caused my false + (12% decrement) repetitive nerve stimulation test? 2 subsequent rns and sf emg are normal so it was definite false +

A doctor has provided 1 answer

False positives: False positives are by definition variations of normal. Our body functions fluctuate from day to day. Normal ranges only capture 95% of asymptomatic people. The other cause for false positives is equipment error. Simple chance will result in false positives if enough tests are done. Sounds like it's time to stop getting these tests.
