Not necessarily: Amyloidosis is a condition in which amyloid can be abnormally deposited in the soft tissues. When amyloid is deposited in the carpal tunnel, it can cause carpal tunnel syndrome by directly compressing the median nerve. Improvement in the condition can then lead to a resolution in the carpal tunnel syndrome as the amyloid is resorbed.

Yes, but...: usually, the presentation is more with painful symptoms initially, progressing later to a carpal tunnel. AL usually presents in the 60's so you are a bit young for this; as noted, it has pain as an initial component, as well as other symptoms like blood pressure instability (orthostatic hypotension) and other such symptoms. If AL was considered, additional tests (e.g. SPEP) should have been done.
