There are many possi: your evaluation will look at medical, neurological and Musculoskeletal causes. This may be myofascial pain which is often associate with Paris seizures that will have a negative EMG. Not likely: It sound like you had an EMG done that was negative. shoulder arthritis wont cause numbness in the arm. However, bear in mind that pain in the shoulder can sometimes originate from the neck. What movement provokes your symptoms? If it is rotation of the neck, then imaging of this area shoulder be done. Rotator cuff tendinitis can also cause numbness. Hope this answers your question.

Yes you can: You are likely experiencing referred pain from the cervical region. This is secondary to arthritis in the facet joints in your neck. Pain from the facets will typically produce symptoms as you describe and will not show up on EMG or nerve conduction tests..... tried to upload a picture, just google cervical spondylosis referral pattern images

Only within reason: Patients with jra should avoid high impact activities such as running and are better to pursue non-impact sports such as swimming, bike riding, cross country skiing, etc. There have been however remarkable advances in treatment by dmards (disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs)that modify the body's response to infection and disease and may thereby allow unrestricted sport.

Why so some children get juvenile rheumatoid arthritis?

Dr. Hill Hastings
Orthopedic Surgery 47 years experience
We don't really know: There seems to be a genetic predisposition to developing jra. It is thought that there may be environmental factors that trigger ones immune system to inappropriately attack one body tissues. (autoimmune) for example exposure to smoking has been implicated. Considerable research is being conducted on finding the exact triggers and autoimmune pathways.

Neuropathy: Nerve damage (neuropathy) is a common diagnosis for such complaints, though there are other potential diagnoses that can cause this. A nerve conduction and EMG test can be useful to prove neuropathy. Neuropathy has many potential causes, but diabetes, thyroid issues, some toxins (alcohol, chemo meds), vitamin deficiencies, and some infections (eg hiv, hansen's disease) are coin causes.

What medical condition could be the cause if the right arm and hand are numb, tingling, and sore?

Dr. Craig Morton

Pinched Nerve: While there are many causes of arm pain and numbness one of the most common causes is cervical radiculopathy. This occurs when one of the nerves leaving the neck gets compressed as it leaves the spine and travels down the arm. Compression may occur due to degenerative/bulging discs or arthritic bone spurs contacting the nerve. See your physician if these symptoms last longer than 2 weeks.
