A member asked:

Morning cortisol level of 40 ug/dl, tsh is 4.4. on estrace (estradiol) (2mg) for low estrogen. 31 year old female. is cortisol level cause for concern?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Elevated Cortisol: A cortisol of 40 is high and even though exogenous estrogen is known to slightly elevate serum cortisol levels, a value of 40 needs to be evaluated. Long term corrisol elevation is injurious to your health and may signify an underlying adrenal glandular condition, such as Cushing's syndrome. You should follow up with an endocrinologist soon.
