See below: Chillblains are due to the dilatation of very small blood vessels when warming from cold exposure, especially in areas with high humidity.. Risk is higher in women, being very thin, having circulation problems as in diabetes or Raynaud's disease. Symptoms are relieved by cortisone lotion. If you have diabetes or Raynauds or blistering, see MD, as you may need a vasodilating drug or an antibioti

Chilblains: Some risk factors for Chilblains include: being female, being underweight, poor circulation & carrying a diagnosis of Raynaud's Phenomenon. Other risks are: Skin being exposed to cold/ dampness. Living in an area of high humidity w low temperature & the time period from start of winter to spring. If you are 20% or more underweight - consider reaching a more optimum weight. Cover skin.
