Rheumatic fever?: There are complications of tonsillitis like rheumatic fever. Try getting an anti streptomycin antibody and an ESR from the pediatrician. This page from the nih may be helpful http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0004388/.
