Brain tumor: Pineal region tumors can be relatively small (1.5 cm) and cause symptoms. Pressure on the tectum of the brain stem will cause compression and narrowing of the aqueduct of Sylvius which causes paralysis of upward gaze and obstructive hydrocephalus.
