Sounds OK: There are many viral syndromes that circulate this time of the year that can trigger an asthmatic child. Giving the motrin will keep the fever down to a reasonable level making him more comfortable and the albuterol will keep his asthmatic lungs dilated. Unless your ped saw ear or throat infection or heard sounds in the lung suggestive of bronchitis or pneumonia, this treatment sounds fine.

Agree: Glad you took him to see his doc! Use albuterol as needed to keep him breathing normally, but if he requires it more than every 4 hours he should be admitted to the hospital for more frequent monitoring. Most important thing is keep him well hydrated -- dehydration is what gets kids in trouble when they have a virus. If he doesn't get better in the next couple of days go back to see your doctor.
