Probably benign: When boys reach the age of puberty, like your son, doctors routinely advise them to regularly check their testicles for exactly this reasons i.e any lumps etc. At this age some would be starting their sexual activity, mostly experimentation. For this, your son should be examined by his doctor and asked for pertinent history in privacy for a good assessment and further testing as deemed necessary.
