All sorts of ways: IT is best to see an Orthopedist for an accurate analysis and diagnosis.This would include xrays in determination of the appropriate treatment plan. The soft tissue might be chronically swollen or sensitive to touch. You may have limited range of motion and traumatic arthritis could develop. Given your young age it still may not be too late to get treated correctly and completely. Keep us posted.

Residual swelling.: Yes. Swelling if not controlled or attended to, from a fracture, can cause prolonged swelling to areas about the ankle. Use compression stockings and walking exercise can help.
