Chemo-, Radiation Rx: In general, we have three tools to treat any cancer: surgery, radiation rx and chemo rx. To answer this question accurately, it would be most helpful to know what type of cancer you are referring to; however, in general, if we cannot surgically remove a tumor, we often try and shrink it with chemo and/or radiation rx. Sometimes, after this treatment, we can then surgically remove the tumor.

What kind?: Not all tumors are cancers, and some tumors cannot be removed without damaging vital anatomy. If the tumor had been biopsied and cancer is confirmed, unresectable cancer requires a different management strategy.
