Overactive thyroid: You have an overactive thyroid. Sometimes this is the early phase of what eventually will become an underactive thyroid (thyroiditis). It will need treatment and close followup. Fortunately, there are excellent medications that can normalize your function either way, albeit slowly, so stay in close touch with your doctor!

Have Hashimotos thyroid for 16 years. Thyroid blood work just came back TSH 2.82 which is normal for me on 100 mcgs synthroid but free T4 was slightly elevated at 1.48 with range being .8-1.40. What could this mean?
