No. The goal is to: diminish deficits in social communication & reciprocal social interaction & to substitute socially-acceptable movements & behaviors for atypical stereotypies & narrow, restricted areas of interest so that a person with ASD can be nearly indistinguishable from neurotypical peers. Prognosis depends on degree of ASD, level of cognition & early response to therapy, now starting as early as 12 mos.
