A member asked:

My friend had removed cyst recently from front part of lower jaw the biopsy report indicates it as a keratocyst. is that dangerous?

Dr. Seth Cook answered

Usually not.: Keratocysts are considered benign. Large keratocysts can however cause local bone and soft tissue damage. They also have a tendency to recur if not completely excised. Patients with nevoid basal cell carcinoma sydrome (Gorlin syndrome) may develop multiple keratocysts.
