A member asked:

My niece had a ct scan after having horrible headaches. the results read "calcification" what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Calcium deposits: A calcification is just the presence of an area on the scan that has the density of calcium. It usually means that area was injured in some way and the bodies response was to lay down this dense material. It is not a favorable finding, but the location and amount may point to a specific cause.
