A member asked:

My uric acid count is always around 7.8. is this in the normal range?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High Uric Acid: Many labs will report 7.8 as normal, but really, anything above 6.8 is probably too high as you are at increased risk of forming uric acid crystals. Elevated uric acid level is a risk factor for gout, and possibly hypertension & diabetes. Talk to your doctor about ways to lower this. A low purine diet can help but is very difficult to follow. Medications are effective, but have disadvantages.
