A member asked:

My wife has diabetes. she is 36 and has just been told her kidneys are leaking. what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Protein: Hi. It probably means her kidneys are leaking protein (albumin). That can happen from diabetic kidney disease, high blood pressure kidney disease, and others. But in diabetics, poor diabetes control is highly suspect. She needs to control her diabetes and blood pressure VERY tightly to arrest/reverse the process. Take this seriously. Chronic kidney disease sucks. Good luck to her!
