Is diabetes a major factor in kidney health?

Yes: Absolutely. Uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension are the most common causes of kidney failure in the United States. Working with your doctor to control your diabetes through education, diet, and exercise is the best way to prevent strokes, heart attacks, kidney disease, and problems with blood supply to the feet and legs. Also, i can't say enough about the importance of not smoking.
