Viral exanthum: Rashes associated with fever in children are often caused by viral infections. We call these 'exanthums'. These rashes are generally harmless and go away when the infection resolves. Rashes associated with very high fevers, lethargy, rapid progression, vomiting or other concerning symptom require immediate evaluation. Rash associated with sore throat can be Strep infection & requires Rx meds.
