A member asked:

My dad's blood pressure is 187/108. i know that's very bad. what happens if you have high blood pressure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acute and chronic: Acutely, there are no adverse effects (unless the BP is exceptionally high, higher than your father's). But over the long run, the risk increases for stroke, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney disease. Your father needs to get his BP under control - not today, but over the next couple of months.
