Only positive: Orthodontic care can only improve your appearance. The extractions are most likely necessary due to lack of space. Ask your orthodontist to further clarify.

Positive changes: A fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist will only order extractions if your malocclusion requires the space provided for resolution. Careful control of this space will only enhance facial esthetics. Make sure you're seeing a Specialist.

Controversial topic: Sometimes, adults may need teeth extracted to make room so their other teeth can be aligned properly. If you have crowding in the arches, you many not notice any change at all. If concerned, get a second opinion BEFORE the treatment.
