A member asked:

What can i do to help relieve my 7 month old son's congestion and persistent runny nose? i want to avoid over-the-counter cold treatments if possible.

Infant meds: Most medications are neither approved or recommended for infants. Normal saline drops to the nose can help loosen secretions and possibly decrease swelling (avoid excessive bulb suction as this traumatizes the membranes of the nose and worsens swelling). Cool mist humidifers may also help. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is approved for 6 months and older if an allergic component is suspected.
