Cold: Wheezing in babies less than 18 months is called bronchiolitis and often doesn't respond to asthma medications and is caused by a virus. If there is a persistent fever, increased work of breathing or poor intake of fluid; your baby should be rechecked. Elevate his/her head, suction nasal passages often and keep the room not too hot and not too dry. All the best.

Bronchiolitis: At this age the airways are so small that a little swelling causes the obstruction with wheezing rather than bronchospasm as in asthma. RSV is often the cause. I know it's hard to watch your baby get sick like this but should make a full recovery.
