A member asked:

How does a colposcopy biopsy compare to inserting an iud - in terms of pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on who is doing it. Neither should be the source of anything more than minimal discomfort at most. An iud insertion may cause some menstrual-like cramping - take Motrin 800 mg before going to your appointement. The colposcopy might cause a pinching feeling, but in my experience most patients feel nothing.
