A member asked:

Does colposcopy hurt with biopsy? do they numb you?

No, It is a painless procedure. The steps to Colonoscopy include a clean up of the Colon with Laxatives followed by mild sedation(to avoid discomfort of insertion of the scope) and then move up the scope to examine the entire length of the Colon over 5-10 minutes. Biopsy, if done is Painless as colon has no pain censors.

Colposcopy per se is not painful, A biopsy may be. Talk to your doctor about your concern before the procedure. For info in this issue: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diagnostics/4044-colposcopy
