ALS....: Was the EMG test done in the muscles that were twitching at the time they were twitching? In order to be absolutely certain about the reason for the twitching, you need to see a neurologist. The neurologist will review the EMG study, do a physical exam and decide what, if any, further testing you need to determine the etiology of your twitching. The twitching can be benign, like fatigue. Discuss further: Most often, the disease can be ruled out with limited electrodiagnosic study, but rarely, especially with the form of primary lateral sclerosis, only one side seems to be involved. Not sure you need more testing, and this seems to call for conference with your doctor, you and close friends or family to decide next step.
