A member asked:

My teeth are very sore due to the wear of elastics. the pain is almost unbearable, any suggestions to help the pain go away?

OTC: Try anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. Good news is that the pain goes away with time as the teeth adjust to them!

Orthodontist: Tell your Orthodontist. Anti-inflammatories may help, but there is a limit. Perhaps they will recommend a less strong elastic for a while -- realizing it may prolong the treatment. Good Luck.

Very common: Most people take ibuprofen or Tylenol (acetaminophen) to help ease the pain. Cold drinks or cold foods may also help. If concerned see your orthodontist for more information.
