Antipyretics: Antipyretics are meds to decrease temp. These are ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Antibiotics are only effective in normalizing temps if a bacteria is causing the infection. Varicella is a virus and is not affected by antibiotics. So if you have a fever, the best thing to do is to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen
