Follow urine output: The first sign of dehydration is decreased urine output. Try to replace diarrheal losses with an electrolyte solution to keep up with her fluid requirements. After urine output stops the child becomes lethargic and weak. I recommend you have your child seen by her doctor if she is unable to take in enough fluids to have 5-6 wet diapers a day. Sooner if she becomes weak or lethargic.
