Pain management: Time tested and now drug of last resort for severe, chronic, non- remitting pain. Unfortunately, it has a very high addictive potential. It should never be used routinely and only in the most severe circumstances.

Opioids: Treat the pain. Not the cause of the pain. So treating the cause of the pain would ultimately help with the long term pain issue. But opioids do not make the pain worse

Possible: Morphine can create an addiction and you actually still have pain after long term use. Opioids are very helpful with cancer related pain.
