Hand pain: It sounds like you have seen a rheumatologist but have not had any blood tests performed? Is the pain on both sides? Rheumatological conditions such as autoimmune arthritis can cause pain in both hand joints but generally the best way to diagnose this is with x-rays and blood work. I suggest seeing the rheumatologist again, alternatively any general internist should be able to help also.
