A member asked:

I have been diagnosed with lupus two years ago. and recently, around four months ago, i've been feeling a lot of joint pain. i went to my rheumatologist and i did a blood work. my rheumatoid factor is less than 10 kiu/l. what explains my joint pains?

Separating RA from lupus arthritis is often confusing. Both can have positive RA factor or ANA. I find the arthritis of RA is more painful and damaging. Treatment is different for these conditions. Stick with your rheumatologist for best advice.

Arthralgias and arthritis are features of Lupus. A negative rheumatoid factor is good. Please establish care with a rheumatologist as you will need long term care. Avoid sun light. Wish you good health!
