Yes and No.: The answer depends on the healing of torn ligaments in each individual. With time, some ligaments heal with fibrosis or scarring, and then look relatively normal. Other ligaments may not heal, and can still be seen as disrupted in repeated or delayed images. In some patients with multiple or repeated injuries there can be lots of swelling, making it can be hard to say if tear is new or old.
