Whats the probability of a ligament tear(s) with a severe inversion ankle injury ... ankle very swollen and bruised still in pain waiting ok for mri?

Not uncommon: An ankle sprain is just about any thing but a fracture. It may involve just stretching the ankle ligaments to complete tears. The MRI would confirm this and may help the doctor with his treatment regimen.

Ligaments: There are three grades of sprains and it appears you have either grade 2 or 3 MRI would tell if ligament is torn or not. See podiatrist or foot ankle ortho. Need to stabilize the joint in the meantime.
