Failed hearing test: Did the hearing test involve checking for fluid? If not sometimes it can not be seen by looking at it and that would still be a reason for failed test .

Hearing Loss: It depends on what frequencies were failed. The next best move is a complete evaluation with an ENT and an audiologist.

There are 4 types of: permanent hearing loss. Causes of congenital sensorineural hearing loss are genetic factors in 50%, illnesses or injuries occurring before, during or after birth. If your child can't respond consistently to directions for a behavioral hearing test, (s)he needs a Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response. (S)he needs a developmental assessment by Early Intervention even if the HL is mild &/or temporary.
