Lap band: The sleeve procedure and Roux-e-y, traditional gastric bypass procedures either bypass the stomach all together or limit the amount of contact of the gastric mucosa with food, requiring vitamin supplementation. The lap band changes the size of the gastric tissue which comes in contact with food, but may not require extra vitamins although they are helpful an all of these procedures.
