A member asked:

Small surgery on breast cyst, had an allergic reaction to sutures and they still haven't dissolved after 4 weeks. should i tell my surgeon ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ask surgeon: Minor surgical procedure on the breast usually leave a small cavity that is closed by approximating the edges the wound to minimize the space left by the cyst These are dissolving stitches and are gone by 4 wks. The skin edges are approximated by non dissolving skin nylons or a subcuticular dissolving (buried ) stitch in 4 wks. If you dont see the sutures the surgeon will just watch.
