Diabetes and thyroid: It is not uncommon to have both thyroid disease and diabetes, as well as hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). Type I diabetes means that you do not make any insulin and need to be on insulin replacement for life. I recommend seeing an endocrinologist to follow these chronic conditions and to be sure that you are on the appropriate medication, diet, and exercise plan.
