Brachial plexu: It sounds like you are asking about a brachial plexus nerve injury. In most cases of injury to this structure it is a wait and see to see how the nerves respond to the injury. The exception is a stab or knife injury where the nerves might be cut in which case the surgical team might opt for an earlier intervention. A consultation with a neurosurgeon or neurologist might be helpful here.
