A member asked:

What to do if i have a history of colitis and food allergies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Colitis and: food allergies suggests gluten sensitivity, otherwise known as celiac disease. Please be tested for the HLADQ antigen for celiac disease and see a gastroenterologist for determination of whether you need further in depth testing such as endoscopy and or colonoscopy. Food alergies are serious and having allergy testing to determine what you are allergic to is important so you can avoid the foodsFinally, if you do have colonoscopy or endoscopy, be sure to ask for a biopsy to check for mast cells as mast cell activation can be behind many of your listed problems.
