Porencephaly is a : neurological disorder in which one or more cavities or cysts filled with cerebrospinal fluid develop in areas of the brain damaged by decreased blood flow & oxygen. Genetic & epigenetic factors that alter early fetal brain development, prenatal exposure to drugs & alcohol, infection, placental problems & maternal illnesses can be the underlying cause; post-natally, tumor, trauma or infection.
