Many causes: There are many causes of eye pain. Only an eye exam can determine the cause and plan for treatment. Eyestrain is usually an aching around or over the eyes. Inflammation in the eyes (iritis) causes pain and light sensitivity. Corneal pain often includes a sensation that something is in the eye. Headaches and sinus pain may be referred to the ocular area. There are many other causes.
