Amblyopia: Amblyopia, or lazy eye, occurs when an eye does not have visual input to the brain for the connection to develop. If you were told you have severe amblyopia, it is unlikely for a cataract surgery to improve your vision. However, that said, I & many eyeMDs have patients who were told they had a lazy eye but ended up having significantly improved vision after cataract surgery or PPV/vitrectomy.
